The Faculty & Friends Club has awarded scholarships since 1972, and in 1986 we established the Scholarship Fund. In 1994, because of the increase in the number of mature students pursuing a degree at FSU, we changed the emphasis of the scholarship program. Under this policy, we award several scholarships of $500 per semester to needy, returning, full-time undergraduate students with an option to extend the scholarship for one or more semesters.

The University Club Scholarship Fund, now called the Alice B. Nichols Scholarship was established in 1986. Since 1994, the Club has been awarding one or more $500 scholarships per semester to needy, returning, full-time, undergraduate students, who maintain a GPA of at least 3.2. Eight years ago, we began adding some partial scholarships to part-time students. Thanks to your generous donations and our successful, annual Billy Bowlegs 5k Run and 1 Mile Walk, we have been able to award more than 160 scholarships during the past 20 years. We are in the process of choosing the students for the fall semester. Full-time students will receive as much as $700. We hope to meet them at the Fall Reception. We thank you for your generous support and hope we can continue to count on you for this worthwhile endeavor. Donations of any amount will be gratefully accepted and acknowledged. Please bring your check to the Welcoming Reception on September 30 or mail your donation together with your dues, with the check made out to the Faculty & Friends Club of FSU, to the treasurer, Calvin Zongker, 601 Live Oak Plantation Road, Tallahassee, FL 32312.
