I am wishing you a Happy and Prosperous New Year with wishes for 2024 to be a year filled with good health and peace. January will have quite a few interest group meetings, and we have plans for monthly meetings during the next several months.

Lunch Bunch will meet tomorrow on Tuesday, January 2 at Little Italy.

The Book Discussion Group will meet on Monday, January 15 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Andrews Anglican Church at the corner of North Meridian and TImberlane to discuss West With Giraffes by Linda Rutledge. Please check with Donna Meredith to request information about the book selection for the coming year at meredithds@comcast.net

Stitch & Chat members will meet on Tuesday January 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Mariana Herceg’s house to continue to socialize while knitting and sewing plus bringing cans and boxes that Cherie & John will take to the Good News food pantry every two weeks. Please contact Cherie at cheriefenstermaker@gmail.com

Sprechen Sie Deutsch? will meet on Saturday, January 20 at 3:00 p.m. at the home of Toni Fuss Kirkwood-Tucker. Toni will present a powerpoint helped by Horst Wahl titled Das Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs und die Behandlung der deutschen Kriegsgefangenen. Toni asks us to bring along some light snacks.

Stammtisch members will meet at the Wine House on Wednesday, January 10 at 5:30 p.m. and at Harry’s on Kleman Plaza on Wednesday, January 24 at 5:30 p.m.

Larry Giunipero, Bill Hillison and Annelise are once more co-chairing the Billy Bowlegs 5k and 1 Mile Walk to be held on Saturday, January 27 at 9:00 a.m. beginning and ending in front of the FAMU/FSU College of Engineering in Innovation Park. Please let me know if any of you can help me volunteer for a few hours. We began the first 5k at FSU in 1984. Where there will be T-shirts, small towels will be given as awards as they were last year.  Please contact Annelise at aleysieffer@gmail.com for more information.

I am currently checking to see if we can hold our annual Chinese New Year’s dinner at one of Lucy Ho’s locations either at Azu or at Masa on Saturday, January 27. I will get back to you as soon as I have some more information.

Bill Landing has been participating with the Tallahassee Swing Band for years and also plays at several other music venues in town. We are planning a Winter Dance at the American Legion on Tuesday, February 27 beginning at 7:30 p.m. The entrance fee is $6:00 at the door. Beverages can be purchased at the Legion. Kathy and Bill Landing have offered to revive our Rotating Gourmet group. They will be hosting on Saturday March 9, starting at 6:00pm.Kathy and Bill will provide wine and beer, and members can bring their ownbeverages if they prefer something else. Everyone will bring an appetizer dish toshare. RSVP to billlanding@gmail.com before March 7.

Is there an interest in Restaurant Roulette?

We are still looking for somebody to chair the Spanish group La Mesa Español.
