October 2005 Newsletter

President’s message

What a wonderful turnout for our Welcoming and Newcomers Reception on September 2nd. Thank you everyone for your hospitality and help in making this a truly wonderful event. TK Wetherell and his wife Ginger joined us, and we greatly appreciate it. Many of you expressed your gratitude for having the event at such a lovely place, The FSU Alumni Center Ballrooom. Thanks to Barry Adams, the President of the FSU Alumni Association, for helping make our event a special evening. As I mentioned in the last newsletter, Annelise Leysieffer spent many hours getting the place for us. She deserves a huge thank you for that effort. Those of you who brought wonderful culinary treats are greatly appreciated. Beth Charness did a great job with the arrangements of food. Many thanks to Liz Payer and Denise Ellingson. Two years in a row, these Knights (there can be female Knights from this point on) have come to the rescue both in setting the place up and cleaning up. Those were long hours.  You are now Knighted.

On Saturday, October 22nd, John and I will host the Halloween Party. Here is your chance to come and have fun with the Elam’s and other members of the FFC. We encourage costumes but come anyway if you don’t have one. The Theatre Party Benefit & Reception with “Steel Magnolias” on Wednesday, September 7th was one of the best we have had. The International Center appreciates the support of the Faculty & Friends Club. We had wonderful food and the play was really good. Many thanks to those, who came. Thank you to the many who joined the Club this year and for your generous donations to the scholarship fund. Our students truly appreciate your help.
