November 2005 Newsletter

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Where did October go?  November is here in a flash.

We have a wonderful event November 19th. The Faculty and Friends Club has invited The Association of Retired Faculty to join us for a brunch and tour of Montgomery Hall/Repertory Theatre. We will also be entertained by a dance rehearsal.

The interest groups are going strong and well. I attended the Globetrotters event and thoroughly enjoyed hearing about Betty Serows culinary trip to Peru with visits to Cusco and Machu Picchu. I heard Dot Skrofronick’s Outdoor Explorer trip to St. Marks was really fun despite the uninvited presence of mosquitoes and rain. How wonderful these groups are. All the chair people are doing a great job.

The Halloween party was a great success. Everyone got into the spirit and enjoyed lots of lively conversation. I held my breath about the possibility of rain and a hurricane because we needed the use of the deck. The evening was perfect. Jane Grosslight had been out of town for 2 months. She flew into town the day of the party and was welcomed by us all. What dedication Jane! Don and Patsy Rapp had an extra costume for us all. We opened our gift from Don, which proved to be a clown’s nose. We were asked to put on the nose and Neil Charness, our historian, took a group picture of us. He now has the pictures to blackmail us.
