December 2006 Newsletter

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

It’s hard to believe that we are at the end of November already and that the Holiday Happening is just a few weeks away on December 9 at the home of Homer and Yvonne Ooten. September, October, and November have been busy months for all of the interest groups, with all eleven of them meeting regularly with increased participation. In the future, we would like to include information about the interest groups at our website, http://facultyclub.fsu.edu. Some of Peter Jörgensen’s students are redesigning the website for us. If anyone has any suggestions as to how we can make this website more user friendly please contact Peter at pjorgensen@ci.fsu.edu.

For the last three years, Barbara and John Elam have graciously opened their home for us to enjoy the fun of Halloween. This year was one of the most spectacular parties ever with more than 50 people in attendance. Thanks to Barbara and John for creating such a warm and welcoming atmosphere for us, with scrumptious food, very clever decorations, and some of the most original costumes ever. Soon you will be able to see the photos from that party and from other special occasions on the new website.

How pleased we were to have such a wonderful turnout at the San Luis Mission trip. Thanks to Joannie Poulson and her committee for organizing this very worthwhile event. What a marvelous opportunity it was for everyone to take a time machine back to the 17th century where the Apalachee Indians and newcomers from Spain lived side by side.

Annelise Leysieffer has managed to keep everyone up to date with our newsletters, despite her busy travel schedule.
