PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Since the last Board meeting on October 19, I have the joy to announce that my daughter, Holly has given birth to my second grandson, Jamison Peter Heeg. The baby and Mom are doing fine, and so is Dad, Joey and big brother Joseph. I would like to be able comment on some of the Faculty & Friends Club events, but I have unfortunately been unable to attend any since the last Board meeting in October. Coming up, I am looking forward to the Holiday Party at Dorothy Oven Park. I would like to wish everyone a delicious Thanksgiving, a joyous Holiday Season, and a happy New Year. If I see you at the Holiday Party, whisper to me how much you would like to be the next Vice President of the Faculty & Friends Club of Florida State University, and I will certainly forward your desire at our next Board meeting in January.
Pete Cottrell
THANKS!!!
We all want to send a huge thank you to Beth & Neil Charness for once again opening their beautiful home to host our festive Halloween Party. Beth added fun, decorative touches throughout the house and prepared special dishes for our enjoyment. Our many Club members and friends of the Charnesses came dressed in imaginative costumes as can be seen in the accompanying photos.

The holiday lights at Dorothy B. Oven Park are spectacular and not to be missed. We want to give special thanks to Josephine Ang for arranging to have Dr. Arneil Reyes give Club members a phenomenal tour of the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory this past Saturday. The Magnet Lab is a fascinating facility with new additions every time we tour it. New magnets are built with greater applications for science and medicine. The tour was followed be a congenial lunch in the nearby Renegade Grill located in the Seminole Golf Clubhouse. These campus tours provide members with an in-depth look at what Florida State University has to offer.

We challenge you to join us for our 27th Annual Bowlegs 5K Scholarship Race to benefit returning, undergraduate students at FSU. As this is our only fundraiser besides your generous donations sent with your membership, do come walk or run with us before heading across the street to the Seminole Clubhouse for a delicious brunch in Renegade Grill. With the rising food costs, the Brunch is now $5.00 to Faculty Club members, who are either race participants or volunteers, to be paid at the Brunch. The cost is $9.00 for Club members and others, who do not wish to participate in or volunteer for the race. All proceeds go directly to our scholarship fund.
We are extremely thankful to again have a number of sponsors for the race including a brand new one. We are much in need of volunteers to help direct traffic for the runners. If interested in volunteering, or should you need fliers, please call Annelise Leysieffer at 893-1272 or e-mail her at aleysieffer@gmail.com.
Larry Giunipero has worked this race since Day One. We thank him for the dedication he has shown us throughout these many years. We also thank Sharon and Bill Hillison for having added their help for many years. Without the help of these dedicated individuals, we would be unable to continue this popular race.
Yet More Thanks!!!
Thanks to your generous donations of close to $2000, which have been included with member dues payments, together with $500 from our endowment account, we will be able to either offer five $500 scholarships during the spring semester or provide larger amounts to the three students graduating in spring 2011.
