November 2021 Welcome Message

Dear Faculty & Friends:
Although the pandemic is still sadly with us, our plan remains to hopefully be able to meet at Dorothy B. Oven Park on Sunday, December 12 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. for the Holiday Party. The reason for the earlier than usual meeting time, is primarily for us to be able to park before all the people arrive to admire the lights while also not having to drive so much in the dark.
With only 35-40 having renewed the annual membership, I am once again attaching the membership form to this email. If you need me to mail you a form, please let me know. As you can see on the form, the dues structure remains the same this academic year as last year, with some of the funds going to the scholarship. During these difficult times, many students are in even greater need of help, and we sincerely thank all of you, who donated so generously last year. In case you are wondering if Eberhard received your check, please know that he has had computer issues keeping him from inputting the checks.
The Book Discussion group continues to zoom for now. With the Covid-19 % falling to a reasonable amount, we are hoping to begin meeting again, maybe already in November. It has been very successful to hold our discussions in the zoom format. If interested, please contact Donna Meredith at meredithds@comcast.net to get more information. We will be discussing Becoming by Michelle Obama on October 18, and we have books chosen through February 2022.
After the summer break, the successful Investment Club continues to zoom. Please contact Marshall Kapp at marshall.kapp@gmail.com. With a couple of recent member changes in their membership, they still have one opening available.
Bettina Tesón has again taken over Sprechen Sie Deutsch? If you would like to practice your German, this is the place. The first gathering is to be held in Inga Fahs-Gielisse’s garden on Sunday, October 24 at 3:30 p.m. Please contact Bettina at raui_30@hotmail.com if you are interested in joining the group, and if you plan to attend on the 24th.
I am hoping we might find similar solutions to the French and Spanish groups.
Where members of Stitch & Chat are not yet meeting in person, we all are hoping to come back together soon. Members continue to knit warm stocking hats, make wash cloths for two churches with a big bar of soap folded into each washcloth and collect and deliver food every two weeks to the Good News food pantry. I am sure the members will also return to making fleece blankets for the Christmas Connection.
We will hold off a while before heading to restaurants or to hosting gatherings in member households.
Best regards to all,
Annelise
