PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
With the school year winding down, it is time to thank the board members, event chairs and all others who have helped make this past year such a successful one for the Faculty & Friends Club. You have all made this year truly special, and it has been a privilege to serve you for the fourth time as president. We thank you for your generosity, enabling us to continue to give six scholarships a year to deserving, returning students. It has been wonderful to see such large numbers gather for the various monthly events. The interest groups are well attended and multiplying, and it is exciting to see the general membership grow. We look forward to having you join us again next year to what promises to be another fun-filled year with interesting events led by the president Ann Libert. Ann, I wish you all the best and thank you for your hard and dedicated work this past year.
Twenty members joined us for a delicious lunch at the Renegade Grill in the Seminole Golf Clubhouse before 24 of us met at the Magnet Lab in Innovation Park to be treated to a fascinating tour led by Hans Schneider-Muntau. His knowledge of magnets is awe inspiring, and we encourage all to contact your legislators to let them know about this jewel of a facility. We thank Bill Landing for his willingness to repeat the ≥First Friday≤ Art Gallery Tour.
Later this month on April 22, we will be meeting for the Annual Dinner at the Capital City Country Club. This promises to be another special evening with entertainment by the Capital Chordsmen. On Sunday, April 25, the World Events interest group is inviting the general membership to what promises to be a fascinating talk. There is a survey included with this newsletter. Please return it to Barbara Elam, the incoming vice president, to help her plan next year’s events.
Please also remember to forward any address, phone and e-mail changes to me at all9002@fsu.edu or call me at 893-1272. I will continue to keep you informed next year about happenings and events in the Club.

Thank you Annelise for bringing our club back to more than 200 members. Your dedication and hard work paid off. You were surrounded by very active board members and by your husband. We urge the members to make use of this new gadget. Please also check out our website http://facultyclub.fsu.edu

Peter Easton, Associate Professor in the FSU College of Education, and his wife, Zohre Bahrayni of the Florida Department of Health, will talk about aspects of the current situation in Iran as experienced during a recent visit to the country. Zohre is originally from Esfahan, the former imperial capital in central Iran. She, Peter and their children spent two months visiting and traveling throughout the country in the summer of 2003. This is a chance to learn more about a region and culture that are very much in the news these days but that remain quite poorly understood in the United States.
